Breaking News: New Sailor Moon Anime Planned for 2013

If movie studios can re-launch popular comic-book franchises every five to ten years, it seems only fitting that animation studios can do the same with popular manga properties ' and, in fact, that's what Toei Animation will be doing with Kodansha's beloved Sailor Moon. News of a Sailor Moon reboot began spreading this morning via Twitter after a special event to honor the twentieth anniversary of Naoko Takeuchi's ground-breaking manga. Details are scarce at the moment, but Takeuchi and Kodansha reps stated that the show was slated for a summer 2013 debut, and would feature music by Momiro Clover Z, who performed the original series' theme song. At the Anime News Network forums, fans have been providing additional information about the project, though many of those details are as yet unconfirmed.
